"Kim Hye-sung will officially announce his posting application next week after the Thanksgiving holiday (the fourth Thursday and 28th of November)," he added.
Kim Hye-sung met with reporters at the 2024 KBO League regular season award ceremony held at Lotte Hotel World in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 26th and announced the posting schedule and plans to leave the U.S.
Related information was reported by multiple U.S. media, including MLB.COM, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated (SI), and MLB Trade Rumors.
MLB Network reporter John Morosi also shared the related information through account X. He also said, "Seattle Mariners are interested in Kim Hye-sung."
The Seattle Mariners are actively seeking resources for second baseman. Seattle is looking for a substitute for Jorge Polanco, its main second baseman who was acquired in a trade with a batting average of 0.213 with 16 homers and 45 RBIs this year.
"Polanco's strikeout rate reached 27.1% this season," MLB.COM said. "On the other hand, Kim Hye-sung's total strikeout rate in the KBO League was only 16.3%.
MLB Trade Rumors also explained, "Kim Hye-sung lowered his strikeout rate every year, and fell to 10.9% in the 2024 season."
Kim Hye-sung, who started his professional career with the Nexen Heroes (currently Kiwoom) in 2017, was eligible to apply for the posting system this year, where he played seven full-time seasons.
After obtaining the consent of his team Kiwoom, he prepared to enter the U.S. by signing an agent contract with CAA Sports, the agency of superstar Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers).
Currently, Seattle, the Boston Red Sox, the San Francisco Giants, and the Los Angeles Angels are considered candidates for destinations.
